Ms. Hernandez is a member of the American Bar Association (Tax and Exempt Organizations Sections), California Lawyers Association (Tax Section, Women in Tax Subcommittee), The Bar Association of San Francisco (Barristers Tax Section, Co-Chair), and the Northern California Planned Giving Council. Ms. Hernandez also serves as Vice President for the East Bay La Raza Lawyers Association.
During law school, Ms. Hernandez was a Teaching Assistant for the Social Enterprise & Economic Empowerment Clinic at UC Law SF, where she helped students apply transactional community lawyering skills to their nonprofit and social justice enterprise clients.
Ms. Hernandez is admitted to the bar in the state of California.
Before joining Adler & Colvin, Ms. Hernandez was an Associate in the Exempt Organizations and Business Transactions groups at Farella Braun + Martel LLP. While at Farella, Ms. Hernandez counseled tax-exempt organizations at various stages of their life cycle; advised companies, and their related entities or investors, to prioritize economic development in low-income communities by virtue of New Market Tax Credit and Opportunity Zone corporate transactions; and advocated to lessen the tax liability of cannabis clients with the Internal Revenue Service, the California Franchise Tax Board, and the California Department of Tax and Fee Administration.
Ms. Hernandez also worked previously at the United States District Court – Central District of California, Phillips Black – a death penalty appellate law firm, and the University of California, Office of the President – Office of Legal Counsel.
Outside of the office, Ms. Hernandez enjoys hiking, chasing sunsets, and rooting on the Los Angeles Dodgers.
