As part of our ongoing effort to keep you informed about developments in California’s regulation of charitable fundraising platforms and platform charities (see here and here), we bring you this new, hot-off-the-press update:
The online portal to complete registration and reporting to the California Attorney General’s Registry of Charities and Fundraisers for charitable fundraising platforms and platform charities is now available here: https://shorturl.at/UtLhU.
Note that Form PL-1 (Initial Registration for Charitable Fundraising Platforms) is due June 12, 2024, for charitable fundraising platforms that are already operating; however, no late fees will be assessed if filed by October 12, 2024.
In addition, Form PL-3 (Notification from Platform Charities) for platform charities also becomes operative June 12, 2024, due within 30 days of entering into a partnership with a charitable fundraising platform that has not already been noticed to the Attorney General; however, no late fees will be assessed for filings due before September 12, 2024.
The Attorney General’s webpage for platforms (https://oag.ca.gov/charities/pl) is also up to date with other frequently asked questions regarding each filing required by charitable fundraising platforms and platform charities.
